FOLKS-VAGUEN

FOLKS-VAGUEN

January 28, 2019 (Monday) at 1p.m. starting in Els Jardins del Forat de la Vergonya (Carrer del Pou de la Figuera).

FOLKS-VAGUEN

To belong to the city, we are tourists, migrants or indigenous people. All and all in a displaced instant.

FOLKS-VAGUEN is an urban performance that takes a tour through some streets of El Born, La Ribera and Gòtic, in the Barcelona’s Casco Antiguo, it is the result of a 05-day experience of a group of people from many countries and professional fields of action, but in constant motion, errant. We are foreigners who do not want to be called “foreigners”, tourists who do not want to be deceived like tourists, and locals who do not want to be called Spaniards. In a social environment in which the urban space is the place of those who arrive, in which we are all foreigners, we were or will be.

FOLKS-VAGUEN results from the ERRO Grupo’s workshop-performance, where strategies for urban actions were deepened, culminating in the creation of this urban performance. This was the second workshop coordinated by the Brazilian collective of street theater and urban interventions, with a foundation in 2001, which is doing a research residency in Barcelona. Part of this research is supported by the University of Barcelona, GRECS / OACU – Faculty of Geography and History, Department of Social Anthropology, under the auspices of CAPES-DS and CAPES / PDSE – Brazil (PPGT-UDESC), and joint dissemination by Antic Teatre.

FOLKS-VAGUEN integrates the PhD researches of the coordinators of the ERRO Grupo (Florianópolis, Brazil): Pedro Bennaton, CAPES / PDSE-Brazil scholar (PPGT-UDESC) under the tutelage of Professor Manuel Delgado (UB, GRECS – OACU) and Luana Raiter (PPGT-UDESC). Both Pedro Bennaton (currently doctoral candidate with the thesis Modus Operrantes: strategies of urban action: play and preparation of a theater of situations) and Luana Raiter (doctoral student with a thesis on participation in urban actions) will guide the work based on their research and practices in street theater and urban performances. FOLKS-VAGUEN’s participants are: Guillem (Wille), Teresa Sanz, Laura Valencia Lozada, Javiera del Bosque, El Migue Leneo, Zelda Soussan (Luit), Aurélien LeForestier (Luit), Sarah Roig, Sol Galatro, Ximena Amparo Cañas Abell and Renata Guerda.

Created by Raiter and Bennaton, the performance FOLKS-VAGUEN is an errant cell that will take its audience for a walk through the streets of Ciutat Vella in a détournement, an insolent route, providing an experience that mixes the Invisible Theater of Augusto Boal with Situationist strategies of urban appropriation and physical, symbolic and political displacement.

FOLKS-VAGUEN on January 28, 2019 at 1 p.m. starts at Els Jardins del Forat de la Vergonya.

With great enthusiasm, we invite everyone who also has illusions, disappointments and desires for other ways of moving and belonging to the city together.
