Brazilian urban intervention and performance collective ERRO Grupo performs and gives workshop in New York at the end of June.<\/p>\n

The tragedy of September 11th caused a torrent of reflections worldwide. In the island of Florian\u00f3polis, in the south of Brazil, it was no different. One month after the attack, Brazilian ERRO Grupo premiers its performance PEDRA (rocks) as an artistic reply to this catastrophic event. Twelve years have gone by and the group is taking this performance to the place where it most makes sense: the heart of New York City.<\/p>\n

Participating in the Hemispheric Institute of Politics and Performance course EMERGENYC (http:\/\/hemisphericinstitute.org\/hemi\/en\/emergenyc\/emerge-2013-events<\/a>) with workshop Invisible Theater against Invisible Power, the prize winning group known in Brazil for it is provocative performances, does not intend to make its passage thru New York gone by without interaction with the space, the city, and the people. PEDRA is a minimalist performance that caused great doubt to its public, as in 2005 at the International Theater Festival of S\u00e3o Jos\u00e9 do Rio Preto when the public took action and broke no less than an 8ft per 8ft glass by throwing rocks while performers stood

As the group deepens its research in invisible procedures to introduce art the urban space, as a strategy of approximating art to real life and also to insert thru vigilance and governmental withhold over public space rules, PEDRA\u00b4s performance will follow these terms, specially because New York City is a new territory for the group with much more strict public laws and very different urban flows.<\/p>\n

The workshop taught at New York University\u2019s EMERGENYC course will be held for alumni only on the 29th and 30th of June while Pedra\u2019s performances can be seen on the 27th at 5 pm at Times Square, Broadway St., and on the 28th at 3 pm at Zucotti Park and Libetty St. On July 1st the group will also perform in Broadway St at 1 pm.<\/p>\n

Due to the Invisible Theater characteristics as an operational tool for urban interventions the group will draw its research about the relationship between the performer and the public urban space with the strategy of the invisible. By providing a set of approaches to the strategies of the invisible for those who favor the maturation of performance art and communication, ERRO Grupo intends to disseminate its research on the theater as an art that interferes in the life of the city, as well as its importance as a collective and individual political practice.<\/p>\n

ERRO em NY \u2013 Grupo brasileiro de interven\u00e7\u00f5es urbanas aterrissa em NY no m\u00eas de junho com pedras nas m\u00e3os.
\nO ERRO Grupo, grupo fundado em 2001 com sede em Florian\u00f3polis, realiza a performance PEDRA nas ruas de Nova Iorque nesse m\u00eas de junho. Al\u00e9m disso, realiza o workshop Invisible action agaist Invisible Power na Universidade de Nova Iorque, atrav\u00e9s do Instituto Hemisf\u00e9rico de Performance e Pol\u00edtica e o diretor, Pedro Bennaton, desde o in\u00edcio deste m\u00eas participa de uma resid\u00eancia na Brown University.

\nSendo convidado para ministrar a oficina Invisible Action agaist Invisible Power no curso EMERGENYC, ofereceido pelo Hemispheric Institute of Politics and Performance na Universidade de Nova Iorque, o grupo conhecido no Brasil por suas a\u00e7\u00f5es provacativas, n\u00e3o tem a inten\u00e7\u00e3o de fazer a sua passagem a Nova York passar sem intera\u00e7\u00e3o com o espa\u00e7o, a cidade e as pessoas. PEDRA \u00e9 uma performance minimalista que causa uma grande repercurs\u00e3o nas pessoas, como quando em 2005, no Festival Internacional de S\u00e3o Jos\u00e9 do Rio Preto, o p\u00fablico entrou em a\u00e7\u00e3o e quebrou nada menos que um vidro de 3mX2m atirando pedras, enquanto os performers mantinham-se imoveis por 40 minutos. \nComo o grupo aprofunda sua pesquisa em procedimentos invis\u00edveis para introdu\u00e7\u00e3o da arte no espa\u00e7o urbano, como uma estrat\u00e9gia de aproximar a arte da vida e tamb\u00e9m para conseguir inserir-setrav\u00e9s de vigil\u00e2ncia e regras sobre o espa\u00e7o p\u00fablico, a performance da PEDRA seguir\u00e1 estes termos, especialmente porque \u00e9 um territ\u00f3rio novo para o grupo com leis p\u00fablicas muito mais rigorosas.
\nAntes das a\u00e7\u00f5es em Nova Iorque, o diretor e dramaturgo do ERRO, Pedro Bennaton, far\u00e1 uma resid\u00eancia que congrega pesquisadores e artistas do mundo inteiro a discutirem e refletirem sobre temas ligados ao teatro e a sociedade civil por quinze dias, na Brown University em Providence (Rhode Island) atrav\u00e9s da Brown International Advanced Research Institute.<\/p>\n

A oficina ministrada no curso EMERGENYC da Universidade de Nova York ser\u00e1 realizada somente para alunos do curso nos dias 29 e 30 de junho, enquanto as performances de Pedra poder\u00e3o ser vistas no dia 27 \u00e0s 17 horas, na Times Square, Broadway St., e no dia 28 \u00e0s 15 horas, no Zucotti Park e Liberty St. No dia 1 \u00ba de julho, o grupo tamb\u00e9m se apresentar\u00e1 na Broadway St \u00e0s 13 horas.<\/p>\n
