Enfim um Líder (“A Leader at Last”), that had its opening in December 19, 20 and 21 of 2007,  is an event that lasts 03 days, 72 hours, that brings to urban centers the expectation of the arrival of a leader.

Since January of 2007, ERRO was been working in its new project, Enfim um Líder. In 2006, the group argued on which would be the next challenge, and arrived to the conclusion that a project that worked more vertically with the expectation, explored in the group’s earlier work Desvio, was a subject that pleased to all.

“The waiting of the arrival is the premonition of the truth. The chosen truth. For the Leader the truth is on the other side.”

The director, Pedro Bennaton, even cogitated to assembly texts that dealt with this feeling, as Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett and The Leader by Eugene Ionesco, alternative soon rejected by him-self and others of the group. The assembly of these texts would not be a deriving authentic expectation of the street, by the group’s vision. Finally the group decided that Enfim um Líder would be a three-day event, that would consists in waiting, spreading the expectation thru the city and organizing a reception to the Leader that would  arrive.

At the beginning, ERRO, thought about the possibility to convoke some famous religious or political leader to the event. However, these leaders did not adjust themselves to the proposal of the group. But suddenly, in the end of January of 2007, ERRO found the leader that was missing for the project. An anonymous leader, a close leader, who vacant thru the world, accepted the group’s invitation in not only arriving in the center of the island of Florianópolis but, also, to arrive in three other cities: Biguaçú, São José and Palhoça.

The Leader that reaches the spiritual as well as the political area satisfied the necessities of belief and ideology of the group. And, the group believes, that he will satisfy the necessities of all the population from where ever the leader arrives. We welcome all layers of society that wants to participation and help ERRO in this mission. There will be three days of intense reception to the leader. Ranging from advertising actions, to mouth-to-mouth, in order to extend to all the community the news of the leader’s arrival. Actions of decoration, cleaning and organizing the space of the reception will be done to adjust the space to this event of great importance in the history of the cities. Beyond everything, the cast of the ERRO still rehearse diverse forms of reception and a speech that will be carried through in the accurate second that the Leader arrives in each city.

Enfim um Líder is an urban intervention, a theatrical event that will develop in elapsing of three days in the center of the city of Florianópolis and other cities of the region. The spectacle explores the expectation and the waiting of a leader and around of this wait is that action is constructed. The ERRO Grupo is inspired by the frequent instants of our daily-life where it has the act of waiting, focusing the idea of an idealized being, questioning the latent desire present in human beings in finding a hero, a person to whom it can give total control of decision.

Thinking about how the imaginary of some, can become the other’s reality, ERRO searches in this work an approach  to the utopian image or not of a leader, virtually real. Inserting the action and transforming the urban space while discussing the superficiality of some ideologies, the passivity of waiting and playing with the act to wait. Beyond creating a situation of waiting in the street for three consecutive days in each presentation, ERRO intends to create a mediated passage of waiting to reach diverse spheres of the society that believe the occult leader, marketing.

“There will be a return to the freedom of youth. Men and women will be unchained and will domain their destinies when they witness the Leader’s answers.”

Nowadays, in our society, nothing exists outside of the spectacle, Enfim um Líder counts with diverse scenes that happen in different media: as radio, car-of-sound, TV and flyers. The announcement of the arrival of the leader makes him exist even before he’s appearance. The faithful-ones, the witnesses, at last the spectators, who wait and dream of its arrival, also help to construct this non-temporal idol.

In the waiting of new features, of fulfilling our emptiness of existence, it puts us in a passive position, towards the facts that are presented, exists a generation that does not live, is lived by the incessant greed of the medias and marketing. Waiting to the next television program, to the release of the newest movie. The hope of something new or of the same old one, the hope to have another vision of the world beyond the one that each person lives. We live waiting to the day where our questions will be answered, for the day where we will be able to grant our power of decision to someone else much more wise and powerful. We search for the moment where we will no longer answer for ourselves, the moment where somebody will come and organize our most “confusing” thoughts.
